Police bust £2m cannabis farm at former West Bromwich Magistrates’ Court

A man has been arrested after an alleged £2 million cannabis farm was discovered in the former West Bromwich Magistrates’ Court building. More than 2,000 cannabis plants were found in the building, which is in Lombard Street West, using high tech growing equipment.

Police descended on the scene last night and a cordon was put in place around the area while officers dealt with the find. Cops are in the process of seizing the drugs today (August 22).

A 34-year-old man was arrested today on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remains in custody for questioning.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We’ve discovered a large cannabis factory in the former West Bromwich Magistrates Court building. It’s estimated there are more than 2,000 plants which we’re now in the process of seizing.

“The drugs den was found in Lombard Street West after we acted on information at around 9.45pm yesterday (21 August). A 34-year-old man was arrested earlier today on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remains in custody for questioning.
