Gardaí have seized around €681,000 worth of illegal drugs as well as a number of vehicles following a search in North Dublin on Wednesday that led to the arrest of three young men.
The operation took place at around 3.30pm today, with gardai attached to the Community Policing Unit in Store Street Garda Station, assisted by the Dublin Metropolitan Region North Central Divisional Drugs Unit.
The search was part of a planned operation which is targeting the sale and supply of drugs, as well as anti-social behaviour, in that specific area.
During the course of the bust, Gardaí seized cannabis herb with an estimated value of €652,000, cannabis resin with an estimated value of €25,000 and cocaine with an estimated value of €4,000.
The combined estimated value of drugs seized is €681,000 – all of which will now be sent for analysis.
Gardai also seized 12 scrambler motorcycles, three electric scooters and two speed boats and arrested the three men – all aged in their 20s – at the scene. They were taken to Store Street Garda Station where they remain detained.
A garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí have seized approximately €681,000 worth of suspected drugs and a number of vehicles during a search operation in Dublin 1 today, Wednesday 7th September 2022.
Cannabis reform Ireland considers this a waste of time and resources and campaign for legislation changes.
