Officers seized £2.5 million-worth of cannabis – and a weapon covered in faeces – in the raid at Brownhills Business Park this week.

Almost 2,400 plants were found growing in 19 rooms across two separate floors in two industrial units.

Cannabis clones for sale were also recovered.

Weapons were also found in the factory, including a deadly bat with nails in the end which had been dipped in faeces, and soil was piled up to the roof.

Officers were first alerted to the site when an electricity engineer reported a power surge at a substation near Lindon Road and the smell of cannabis in the air.

A spokesman for the force said: “On August 28 we took a call from an electricity engineer reporting a power surge at a substation near Lindon Road, Brownhills, that was damaging fuses.

“He also reported a smell of cannabis in the air and reported suspicions to police.

“Officers found an old factory unit in Brownhills Business Park off Lindon Road with up to 2,000 cannabis plants across two floors of two buildings – one of the largest cannabis factory finds this year.

“The force’s specialist cannabis disposal team was still clearing the property on Wednesday.

“There are no arrests at this stage and enquiries on-going.”
